Alexander Isak is on his way back to Liverpool after picking up a minor injury while playing for Sweden. The striker will miss the rest of the international break to focus on his recovery.
This news comes right after Isak put in a strong performance for his country. He scored and played the entire 90 minutes in Sweden's 2-1 win against Romania in the Nations League on Friday. It was a great start to the break, but his time with the national team has now been cut short.
Isak has enjoyed a strong start to the season with Liverpool. This setback will be a worry for fans who have watched him find his form early in the campaign.
Club Statement and Missed Matches
Liverpool confirmed the news with an official statement on their website. The club announced that Isak is returning from international duty because of the minor injury.
The statement explained that the striker will not play in Sweden's next three matches. Those fixtures are against Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a second game against Romania.
Instead of playing, Isak is heading back to Merseyside. The club said he "will now be assessed by club medical staff at the AXA Training Centre" after missing Sweden's remaining fixtures.

Liverpool will hope the injury is not serious. Isak had a first season at Anfield that was disrupted by injuries. The club will want to avoid a repeat of those fitness struggles this time around.
