Fresh Ankle Injuries in Cleveland

The Cleveland Browns are dealing with new medical concerns following Sunday's road defeat against the New York Jets. Running back Quinshon Judkins and linebacker Carson Schwesinger are officially day to day with ankle injuries, according to head coach Todd Monken.

Both players were able to finish the game in New York, but neither left the stadium completely clear. Judkins and Schwesinger both exited the Browns locker room wearing protective walking boots on their right feet as a precaution.

Monken spoke about the injuries on Monday from Berea, Ohio. The head coach described the issue for Judkins as a "tweak" in his ankle. Schwesinger suffered a Grade 1 ankle sprain. Having two key players in walking boots is not what Cleveland wanted to see after a tough road loss.

Roster Questions Grow Across the Board

The trouble does not stop with Judkins and Schwesinger. Cleveland now has a growing group of players whose availability remains up in the air ahead of a major divisional game. Following the loss to the Jets, the Browns hold a 3-2 record and sit in second place in the AFC North.

The offensive lineup took several hits on Sunday. Rookie wide receiver KC Concepcion is currently in the concussion protocol. Concepcion was forced out of the game following an illegal hit delivered by New York safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. Right tackle Tytus Howard also failed to finish the contest after suffering a knee injury.

The defense is dealing with its own health problems. Before Schwesinger hurt his ankle, Cleveland was already playing without key personnel on the defensive line. Defensive tackles Mason Graham and Mike Hall Jr. were both inactive against the Jets due to leg injuries.

What it means for the next game

Cleveland stays at home for Week 6 to host the 4-1 Baltimore Ravens, who currently lead the division. Health will be a major factor for the Browns as they attempt to bounce back.
