Caitlin Clark Prioritizes Fever Roster Over New Mega Extension
Caitlin Clark says she will consider the Indiana Fever's roster needs before signing a lucrative new contract extension.

The New Contract Option
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is eligible for a major contract upgrade under the league's new collective bargaining agreement. The Exceptional Performance on Initial Contract, or EPIC provision, allows her to renegotiate her rookie deal and sign a three year extension.
Clark could earn a projected 1.3 million dollars in 2027 and a supermax of 1.7 million dollars in 2028. But the three time All Star is in no rush to sign. She wants to make sure the team has the financial flexibility to build a championship roster.
Team First Approach
Clark finished her season ranked second in assists per game and third in points per game. While she is eligible for the massive pay bump, she is keeping her focus on the team's salary cap.
"We have to think about things with the cap," Clark said, "and what we're going to need and who we're going to need to sign and what value they bring to the team."
She made it clear that her commitment to Indiana is not in question. "No matter what, I'm gonna be here," she said. Her main goal is simply to give the Fever the best chance to win championships.
Roster Decisions Ahead
The Fever have some big decisions to make this offseason. General manager Amber Cox must rebuild a roster that fell to the sixth seed and lost in the first round of the playoffs for the third year in a row.
Several key players are unrestricted free agents. This list includes Kelsey Mitchell, Sophie Cunningham, Tyasha Harris, and Myisha Hines-Allen.
Clark intends to have a voice in how the team is built. She plans to be active in recruiting free agents and wants her teammates Aliyah Boston and Mitchell to be involved in those discussions as well.
Working With Management
Clark explained that she already has an open dialogue with the general manager. She believes player feedback is valuable when deciding which new teammates would fit best on the court and in the locker room.
While Cox makes the final decisions, Clark appreciates having a seat at the table. She wants to share her opinions on which positions the team needs to target to improve next season.
