Carrick Backs Man United To Unite After Martinez Outburst
Michael Carrick says Manchester United have moved on from Lisandro Martinez's outburst ahead of a tough trip to Leeds.

Trouble at Carrington
Michael Carrick insisted Manchester United have put Lisandro Martinez's angry comments behind them. Martinez criticized director of football Jason Wilcox and questioned the squad following a 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid.
Carrick defended his group at Carrington on Friday. He brushed aside Wayne Rooney's claim that the remarks could rip the dressing room apart. Martinez was fined and apologized after talks with Carrick, Wilcox and CEO Omar Berrada. The defender remains available to play against Leeds United on Sunday.
Money and Squad Frustrations
Club executives were frustrated that Martinez made his complaints in public. The 50 million pound renovation of the Carrington training ground in August 2025 was designed to help staff and players talk openly.
Behind the scenes, United know the squad has gaps, especially at left back. The club is dealing with more than 1 billion pounds of debt. Wilcox and Berrada spent 155 million pounds on Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans in the summer after starting with a 120 million pound budget. Extra cash vanished when Barcelona chose not to buy Marcus Rashford permanently. Contract talks with the 28 year old Martinez are not expected until January.
Five Games Without a Win
Carrick has consistently protected his players, even after an opening loss to Hull City and a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur. He is under pressure now, with United winless in five matches.
A trip to Elland Road is a tough test. Leeds have not lost at home since March. Carrick hopes the squad rallies together instead of falling apart.
