A Homecoming to Remember

CeeDee Lamb grew up 30 miles southwest of Houston in Richmond, Texas. On Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver played his first game inside Reliant Stadium. He made sure it was a performance his family in the stands would never forget.

Lamb caught 17 passes for 189 yards to lead the Cowboys to a 34-30 victory over the Houston Texans. His biggest play was a 12 yard touchdown catch with just 40 seconds remaining on the clock, which sealed the win for Dallas.

"My grandma came out, that was really good to see," Lamb said in the locker room after the game. He added that it meant everything to have his family there to watch him play in a stadium he had only visited as a kid.

Making History in Dallas

Lamb was targeted 21 times by quarterback Dak Prescott. Prescott admitted he did not even realize how many times he had thrown to Lamb until coach Brian Schottenheimer announced the stats in the locker room.

Only one player in Cowboys history has caught more passes in a single game. Tight end Jason Witten caught 18 passes against the New York Giants in 2012. Prescott praised Lamb for getting open and helping the team by running like a running back after he gets the ball in his hands.

Lamb's 17 receptions are the most by any player since Keenan Allen caught 18 in Week 3 of 2023. It is also the most catches by a player who also scored a touchdown in the same game since Brandon Marshall did it in 2009.

The massive performance also moved Lamb past Hall of Famer Drew Pearson for fourth place on the Cowboys' career receiving yards list. He now trails Tony Hill by 74 yards for third place.
