Chargers Offense Hits Rock Bottom as Harbaugh Weighs Changes
Los Angeles fell to 0-6 following a 22-6 defeat against the Chiefs, prompting Jim Harbaugh to review the offense.

Historic Slump in Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Chargers dropped to 0-6 on Sunday following a 22-6 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. It marks the first time the franchise has lost its opening six games since the 2000 season, when Jim Harbaugh was still playing. The only other time the Chargers began a year 0-6 was back in 1975.
The team produced just 259 total yards and a season low six points on Sunday. That brought their scoring average down to 15.0 points per game, which sits 30th in the league. After the game, Harbaugh noted that his team must address everything, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
Harbaugh Evaluates the Play Calling
Harbaugh brought in offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel after firing Greg Roman in January. When asked whether McDaniel would continue to call plays, Harbaugh did not give a firm backing. Instead, he said the staff plans to look at everything.
Harbaugh took responsibility for the struggles, pointing out that strong efforts in practices and meetings are not translating into games. He refused to point fingers or make excuses, even as the offensive front has used eight different starting line combinations this year. Four rookies started on the line on Sunday for the second week in a row. Injuries have also thinned the wide receivers, with Ladd McConkey leaving the game in the second quarter due to a concussion.
Herbert Struggles to Find Answers
Quarterback Justin Herbert continues to have a difficult campaign. He threw his league leading eighth interception against Kansas City, maintaining a streak of throwing at least one pick in every contest. Entering Week 5, Herbert had the lowest QBR in the league at 30.2.
Against the Chiefs, Herbert failed to reach 100 passing yards in the first half for the third time this season. When asked about what has failed to click, Herbert admitted he does not know. If I had the answers, then we would definitely be having a different conversation, Herbert said. For now, the winless Chargers are left searching for solutions before the season slips away completely.
