Como Ready for Manchester United Visit in Champions League
Cesc Fàbregas calls Como hosting Manchester United a dream come true as the Italian side prepares for Wednesday's Champions League match.

A Historic Visit to Sinigaglia
Como head coach Cesc Fàbregas is looking forward to hosting Manchester United in Wednesday's Champions League group match. The former Arsenal star guided his team to a 3-1 victory against Fiorentina on Sunday, keeping Como fifth in Serie A.
Speaking after the match, Fàbregas described facing the English team as a dream come true. He noted that just three years ago, when Como were in Serie B, hosting Manchester United at the Sinigaglia stadium would have been unthinkable.
From Serie D to the Big Stage
Como are competing in Europe for the first time in the 119 year history of the club. The side based in Lombardy went bankrupt twice in the last two decades and was playing in Serie D in 2019.
A third promotion in six seasons brought Como back to Italy's top division in May 2024. They started their Champions League campaign with a 4-1 home victory over Leipzig, followed by a 3-2 loss at Feyenoord last week.
Focusing on Growth and Serie A
Fàbregas explained that playing in the Champions League came five years ahead of schedule for the club. He called the tournament an extraordinary gift after last season, adding that it is even tougher than the World Cup or the European Championship.
Despite the excitement, Fàbregas emphasized that Serie A remains the most important focus for his side. He stated that the club started from scratch three years ago and must carefully manage every situation as they grow day by day.
