Detroit Forward Britta Curl-Salemme To Miss PWHL Season
PWHL Detroit forward Britta Curl-Salemme will miss the upcoming season after announcing she is expecting her first child.

Big News For Detroit
Detroit forward Britta Curl-Salemme will miss the upcoming PWHL season. The U.S. Olympian announced her pregnancy on Monday through an Instagram post alongside her husband, Andrew. The image showed the couple sitting next to an open oven containing a bun on the top rack.
This will be the first child for the couple, who married in 2024. Both were collegiate athletes at the University of Wisconsin, where Andrew competed as a wrestler. Detroit general manager Manon Rheaume shared congratulations on social media, writing that Curl-Salemme will have the full support of the team while focusing on her family.
Recent Success And Career
Curl-Salemme is 26 years old and comes from Bismark, North Dakota. She played her first two PWHL seasons with Minnesota, helping the team win the Walter Cup championship in 2025 during her rookie year.
In June, she joined Detroit by signing a three year contract during the league expansion process. She finished third in league scoring last season with 29 points, setting a single season record with 18 assists.
On the international stage, Curl-Salemme has earned two gold medals and two silver medals with the U.S. team at the world championships. She also made her Olympic debut in February at the Milan Cortina Games, where she scored one goal and added five assists to help win gold.
Roster Changes Ahead
Curl-Salemme attended the U.S. team pre tournament camp in Michigan last week. However, she was left off the roster for the upcoming world championship tournament in Denmark, which begins on Friday.
She is the second player from the gold medal winning U.S. Olympic squad to announce a pregnancy recently. Minnesota Frost captain Kendall Coyne Schofield announced last week that she is expecting her second child.
Detroit will begin its inaugural season without Curl-Salemme in the lineup. She remains a core piece of the roster after signing her contract earlier this summer.
