Dodgers Star Shohei Ohtani Takes Positive Steps Toward Return
Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani is progressing well on the injured list but still needs to face pitching before making his return.

Ohtani making steady progress with swing
Shohei Ohtani is making steady progress with his swing while on the injured list. The Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter has not faced live pitching or the Trajekt machine yet, but his recovery is moving in the right direction.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts shared an update on Friday regarding the star's status. He noted that while Ohtani is not ready to return just yet, his last few days of work have been highly encouraging for the club.
"He's not there yet," Roberts said, "but everything I've heard, it's been a really productive last three to four to five days. He's in a good spot."
Injury background and return timeline
Ohtani landed on the injured list just before the Dodgers went on their recent seven-game road trip. He has been dealing with lingering pain in his right biceps, his left leg, and his neck.
Instead of traveling with the team, Ohtani stayed behind in Los Angeles to focus on his rehabilitation. He received treatment and took a major step forward on Tuesday when he hit off a tee for the first time since the injury.
The designated hitter reunited with his teammates after they secured the NL West division title. The Dodgers clinched the division for the 13th time in 14 years with a victory over Cincinnati on Thursday.
Ohtani is eligible to return to action on Wednesday. This return would line up with the start of the Dodgers' final home series of the regular season against San Diego.
However, Roberts wants to make sure Ohtani is fully prepared before he steps back onto the field. The manager stated he would like Ohtani to get 10 to 12 at bats against pitching before he rejoins the active lineup. Roberts explained that it is all about what Ohtani feels good with and what gets him ready.
