Injury updates for Philadelphia's offense

Running back Saquon Barkley has been ruled out for Sunday's home game against the Carolina Panthers. Barkley continues to recover from a hamstring injury that has kept him out since he left early in the first quarter of a Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

The Eagles will also be thin in the backfield behind him. Will Shipley was placed on injured reserve on Friday with a foot injury, and Tank Bigsby is out with an abdomen issue. That leaves Dameon Pierce in line to handle the bulk of the carries out of the backfield.

There is good news on the outside. Receiver DeVonta Smith carries no injury designation after missing the previous two games with a hamstring injury. Smith said, "I'm good," though he added that whether he plays is up to the doctors. Tanner McKee will start at quarterback for Jalen Hurts, who was ruled out on Thursday due to a superficial blood clot in his calf.

Defensive status and offensive line updates

The Philadelphia defense is dealing with several absences as well. Edge rusher Jalyx Hunt is out with knee and ankle injuries. Safety Michael Carter will miss the game with an abdomen issue, and edge rusher A.J. Epenesa is sidelined with a back injury.

Edge rusher Jonathan Greenard has no injury designation, but he plans to test his ankle pregame. He did the exact same thing in London before being ruled out against the Jaguars.

Along the offensive line, linemen Landon Dickerson and Drew Kendall are listed as questionable with knee injuries.
