FC Andorra Defender Defends Teammate After Death of Jesús de Miguel
FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono is deeply affected after a fatal collision with Tenerife player Jesús de Miguel on Monday.

FC Andorra squad devastated after tragedy
Tenerife player Jesús de Miguel, aged 30, died in hospital on Tuesday morning. He had been involved in an on field collision during Monday's second division match against FC Andorra.
FC Andorra defender Lautaro Spatz spoke out on Instagram to support goalkeeper Jesús Owono. The 25 year old Equatorial Guinea international collided with De Miguel during the game. Spatz explained that the entire Andorra squad is in shock and devastated by what happened.
Spatz emphasized that Owono is suffering immensely and had no intention of causing harm. He noted that while accidental collisions happen in football, no one could have imagined such a tragic outcome.
Police investigation and online reaction
Spanish police confirmed that an investigation has been opened into the incident. Under Spanish law, deaths resulting from non natural causes must undergo a judicial inquiry.
Following the match, Owono faced a stream of racist insults online before deactivating his Instagram account on Tuesday. Mina Bonino, wife of Real Madrid captain Fede Valverde, urged her Instagram followers not to vilify the goalkeeper.
Bonino wrote that Owono will carry the weight of this event for the rest of his life. She stated that while it was a reckless challenge, he had no intention to kill.
Tenerife plan funeral attendance and tribute
CD Tenerife majority shareholder Rayco García announced that the full squad will travel to the mainland for De Miguel's funeral. The service takes place on Thursday at Navahermosa in Toledo.
García mentioned that De Miguel's wife and their 16 month old baby were present at the stadium on Monday. He added that the team needs time to say goodbye and process the tragic event.
The players will have a day off after the funeral. Tenerife also plan to hold a tribute in memory of De Miguel at the Heliodoro stadium on Saturday.
