Georgia Backfield Shift: Bowens Out but Frazier Returns for Alabama Clash
Georgia running back Chauncey Bowens is out for Saturday's game against Alabama, but leading rusher Nate Frazier is set to return.

Bowens Out but Frazier Returns
Georgia will play without running back Chauncey Bowens on Saturday night. Bowens leads the Bulldogs with six rushing touchdowns this season. He was injured during last week's 38-14 victory against Vanderbilt. Bowens has 124 yards on 35 carries this year and serves as the primary short yardage option for the team.
However, the Bulldogs get some good news. Leading rusher Nate Frazier is off the injury report and expected to return. Frazier missed most of the last two games with bruised ribs. He did not play in the 41-13 win against Oklahoma and had only two carries against Vanderbilt.
The Ground Game Against Alabama
Frazier leads Georgia with 211 rushing yards and has scored five touchdowns. In the game against Vanderbilt, he also caught five passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. His return is important as Georgia prepares to face a tough Alabama defense. The Crimson Tide allow just 78.6 rushing yards per game, which ranks third in the SEC.
With Frazier limited recently, junior Dwight Phillips Jr. saw more playing time. Phillips was the leading rusher against Oklahoma with 84 yards and a touchdown. He is the son of 2004 Olympic gold medalist Dwight Phillips. Meanwhile, transfer Dante Dowdell remains out. Dowdell has missed the season recovering from injuries sustained in an ATV accident. Georgia coach Kirby Smart said in July that Dowdell was receiving treatment at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.
