Georgia Bulldogs Land Elite In-State Safety Nick Carroll for 2028 Class

A Big Addition in Georgia

The Georgia Bulldogs have secured a major commitment for their future defense. Four star safety Nick Carroll announced his pledge to Georgia on Thursday. He is the first defensive player to join the Bulldogs' 2028 recruiting class.

Carroll is a five foot ten, 180 pound recruit from Lyons, Georgia. He is ranked as the number four safety in his class and the number 10 overall recruit in the state of Georgia. He chose the Bulldogs after visiting several SEC programs over the last month. His final list of choices also included Clemson, Florida, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, and Texas Tech.

At Toombs High School, Carroll plays on both sides of the ball as a two way standout. He shares the field with other top recruits. His high school teammates include Auburn linebacker commit Kareem Palmer, NC State pledge Alex Scott, and defensive tackle Jamarcus Johnson.

Building Future Classes

Carroll is the third commitment for Georgia head coach Kirby Smart in the 2028 cycle. The class is led by quarterback Jayden Wade, who is the top overall recruit in the class and has been committed to the program since November 2025. Four star tight end Asa Wall from Milledgeville is the other 2028 commit, and he remains the longest tenured pledge in this cycle.

Georgia is also building strong groups for other years. The Bulldogs' 2027 recruiting class is currently ranked at number 12. That group is led by Kemon Spell, who is the top running back and the number seven overall recruit in his class.

Before these future recruits arrive, Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs have immediate business to handle on the field. The number two ranked Bulldogs are 5-0 overall and 3-0 in SEC play. They are preparing to play on the road against Alabama this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Both teams are undefeated heading into this matchup.
