Giants Running Backs Answer Harbaugh in Overtime Win
New York leaned on its running game to top Houston 27-21 in overtime as three backs scored touchdowns.

Ground Game Delivers in Houston
The New York Giants needed their running backs to produce, and the group responded in Houston. Coach John Harbaugh challenged the backfield earlier in the week after the team cut Najee Harris. On Sunday at NRG Stadium, the Giants ran for 188 yards at 5.5 yards per carry to secure a 27-21 overtime victory against the Texans.
All three running backs reached the end zone. Tyrone Tracy Jr., Devin Singletary, and Cam Skattebo each scored a touchdown. Backup quarterback Jameis Winston also punched in a touchdown on a tush push. That gave New York four rushing scores on the day to support quarterback J.J. McCarthy in his first start with the team.
Skattebo and Singletary Finish the Job
Skattebo produced the first 100 yard rushing performance of his career. The second year back helped the offense in the second half with a 19 yard run off a fake tush push. In overtime, he broke loose for a 42 yard gain. It stood as the longest run of his career and the longest by any Giant this season.
Singletary then finished the contest on the second possession of the extra period. He broke away for a 30 yard touchdown run to seal the win. Singletary, who was inactive for three weeks earlier this year, praised the group for answering the call when their coach asked for more.
Battered Backfield Heads to the Bye
The strong outing was a welcome rebound for Skattebo. He played only six snaps and had zero carries against the Saints after earlier fumble troubles. Skattebo noted that Singletary reminded him to protect the football late in the game, and he kept that focus during his big overtime run.
The win moves the Giants to a 4-2-1 record and keeps them atop the NFC East, but the physical toll was high. Tracy left in the first half with a hamstring injury, while Skattebo felt his hamstring on the long overtime run and limped to the team bus. Tackles Jermaine Eluemunor and Andrew Thomas are also dealing with injuries as New York enters its bye week.
