A wild finish in Dallas

The Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys added another wild entry to their history with a 40-40 overtime tie in Week 4 of the 2025 season. Micah Parsons returned to Dallas, but neither side walked away with a win.

Both offenses exploded in the second half, combining for touchdowns on six consecutive drives. Dak Prescott connected with George Pickens on a 28 yard score with 43 seconds remaining in regulation. Jordan Love quickly responded, setting up a 53 yard field goal by Brandon McManus to force overtime.

Dallas took the lead in the extra period on a 22 yard field goal from Brandon Aubrey. Green Bay answered again. Love converted a fourth down pass to Matthew Golden, and McManus made a 34 yard kick with one second left. It ended as the highest scoring tie since regular season overtime started in 1974.

"I felt like I was giving them my best shot, and they gave me their best shot, and then we just came out into a draw," Parsons said. The result kept Green Bay unbeaten at AT&T Stadium, moving their record there to six wins, zero losses, and one tie.

Decades of playoff drama

Big games between these two teams are nothing new. In the 2023 wild card round, Dallas entered as heavy favorites after winning 12 games during the season. Green Bay had won nine games with Love in his first year as the starting quarterback. Prescott threw two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, helping Green Bay build a 27-0 lead on their way to an upset.

The rivalry also includes famous postseason battles from earlier years. The 2014 divisional round featured the overturned catch by Dez Bryant on fourth down at Lambeau Field. Two years later, Jared Cook caught a 36 yard pass from Aaron Rodgers with three seconds left to set up Mason Crosby for a 51 yard winning kick.

Their history stretches back to the famous Ice Bowl. Bart Starr scored on a quarterback sneak with 16 seconds remaining on a frozen field, giving Vince Lombardi and the Packers another championship victory over Dallas.
