Huge Blow for Mississippi State as Fluff Bothwell Exits Alabama Game
Mississippi State running back Fluff Bothwell left Saturday's game against Alabama after just one carry due to a lower-body injury.

Early Exit for Bothwell
Mississippi State suffered a massive blow early in Saturday's game against Alabama. Star running back Fluff Bothwell left the field after taking just one carry on the opening series.
The standout runner did not return to action. He was later seen standing on the sideline wearing shorts and a walking boot. Reporter Katie George noted that the setback was related to a preexisting lower-body injury that Bothwell had been dealing with before the game.
A Big Loss for the Offense
Losing Bothwell is a major hit to the team's offensive game plan. He has been one of the most productive players in the entire conference this year.
Entering Saturday's matchup, Bothwell was second in the SEC in rushing yards. He had already put up 402 rushing yards and scored three touchdowns on 73 carries. His absence leaves a massive void in the offense.
Backfield Options for the Bulldogs
With their star player out, the Bulldogs must rely on other options in the backfield. Mississippi State lists Kolin Wilson and Xavier Gayten as the co-backups at the running back spot.
Wilson has seen some action already this year. He is currently third on the team with 21 carries, gaining 104 yards on the ground so far. Both of these backup runners will need to step up.
Taylor's Running Threat
The running backs are not the only players who will need to make plays on the ground. Quarterback Kamario Taylor is also a dangerous threat when running the football.
Taylor has already rushed for 185 yards this season. His ability to make plays with his legs will be vital for the Bulldogs as they try to replace Bothwell's high level of production.
