Iowa Quarterback Hank Brown Questionable for Washington Game
Iowa quarterback Hank Brown is questionable for the Washington game with a shoulder injury, meaning backup Jeremy Hecklinski could start.

Injury Clouds Iowa Quarterback Situation
Iowa quarterback Hank Brown is questionable for the upcoming game at Washington. The quarterback is dealing with a sprained throwing shoulder, specifically a sprained AC joint. The injury occurred during the second half of Saturday's loss against Ohio State.
While head coach Kirk Ferentz believes Brown will likely be cleared to play, his status remains highly uncertain. Brown has not been able to do much during practice this week, leaving his availability in doubt for the matchup.
Hecklinski Steps Up in Practice
With Brown limited, Jeremy Hecklinski has been taking the first team reps in practice. Hecklinski competed with Brown for the starting job during the spring and summer. Jimmy Sullivan is currently working as the backup.
Hecklinski showed promise when he replaced Brown on Saturday. He completed all five of his pass attempts and led Iowa on a touchdown drive in the fourth quarter.
Coach Ferentz addressed the situation on his radio show on Wednesday. He noted that even if Brown is cleared, the team must make a smart decision. Ferentz said, "I think [Hank] will be cleared medically to play, but the issue is: Is it a smart thing to do, and is it the best thing to do for him and for our team?" He added that they cannot put him at risk, saying, "Right now, our mindset is that Heck's got it, and Jimmy Sullivan is on deck. If Hank can get to that point by Friday night, then great, but we can't count on that."
Brown's Impact This Season
Hank Brown has started all five games for Iowa this season. He has thrown for 832 yards, recording five touchdowns and only one interception. His potential absence would be a major adjustment for the offense.
