Oluokun anchors Jacksonville defense

The Jacksonville Jaguars kept their strong run going in Week 5 with a 19-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Linebacker Foyesade Oluokun led the way on defense, recording 10 total tackles, six of them solo, and one tackle for a loss.

The victory leaves Jacksonville with four wins from five games as they sit out in front in the AFC South. Oluokun has been an understated but important piece for one of the top defensive units in football, providing reliable tackling week in, week out.

Big numbers in narrow defeats

Other standout efforts across the league came in close losses. Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba had a big day for the Seattle Seahawks, despite their 32-29 defeat against the San Francisco 49ers. Smith-Njigba hauled in five passes for 102 yards and finished with 118 total yards. His day included a 16 yard score off a pass from Sam Darnold in the third quarter to give Seattle the lead, weaving through four defenders along the way. Seattle is now 3-2 on the season.

San Francisco held on thanks in part to defensive back Malik Mustapha, who made seven tackles, recovered a fumble, and broke up a pass. Elsewhere, Los Angeles Rams defender Nate Landman forced two fumbles and racked up 13 tackles in a 37-34 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Boye Mafe added a sack and a forced fumble for the Cincinnati Bengals in their 31-24 win over the Miami Dolphins.
