Jayden Daniels Cleared to Play With Elbow Brace Against Giants
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will play Sunday with an elbow brace, but doctors worry about future injury risks.

Daniels Cleared for Sunday Return
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will be back on the field Sunday against the New York Giants. The third year star missed Washington's last two games after suffering a second dislocation to his left elbow back in Week 2. He was a full participant in practice all week leading up to the game.
Daniels will play with a protective brace on his left elbow for the rest of the season. Offensive coordinator David Blough said Thursday that the quarterback would be a full go for the upcoming matchup against New York. Blough made it clear that there will be no limitations on Washington's game plan with Daniels under center.
Brace and Long Term Risks
The quarterback expressed full confidence in playing with the new protective gear. Daniels said he can do everything necessary on the field while wearing the brace. That includes taking snaps from center and handing off the ball to his running backs.
Despite his approval to play, doctors across the league still have major concerns about his physical health. Because Daniels has dislocated his elbow twice over the past 11 months, medical experts believe he is at a higher risk for another injury. Some doctors maintain that it is a matter of when, not if, he suffers another dislocation to that same left elbow.
Washington Roster Situation
The injury situation makes Daniels' availability even more vital for Washington. Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota has been ruled out for Sunday because of a sprained MCL.
With Mariota sidelined, rookie Athan Kaliakmanis will step up to serve as the primary backup quarterback behind Daniels against the Giants.
