Lakers Center Walker Kessler Returns to Full Practice After Finger Injury
Walker Kessler joined full practice on Sunday as he targets his Lakers debut following a left pinkie injury.

Kessler back on the floor for full practice
Walker Kessler returned to full practice on Sunday for the first time since the opening days of training camp. The 7 foot 2 center jammed his left pinkie finger on the backboard while trying to block a shot. He said the limitation was purely precautionary.
"It feels good," Kessler said after showing tape on his finger. "Fully went today in practice, felt great."
The Lakers traded two future unprotected first round picks and two pick swaps to acquire Kessler from Utah in July, signing him to a four year, $130 million contract. After missing all but five games last season following shoulder surgery in November, Kessler is eager to play. He averaged 9.5 points on 68.1% shooting in his four NBA seasons and was brought in to improve a defense that ranked 19th last season.
Redick taking cautious approach before debut
Head coach JJ Redick is not committing to Kessler playing on Tuesday against Golden State in Las Vegas. Redick stated that the team will see how the center feels on Monday before making any decisions. He noted that Kessler will get live play at some point this week.
Injuries have slowed down team preparations. Ziaire Williams has a left foot contusion and Collin Sexton has a right lower leg issue. Redick has named three starting spots so far, giving them to Kessler, Luka Doncic, and Austin Reaves. With opening night 10 days away, the starting lineup remains open.
Reaves expressed full confidence in the roster depth. "I show up and play regardless," Reaves said, adding that the team trusts whoever takes the floor.
