Malik Willis takes charge of young Miami Dolphins offense
Malik Willis is ready to lead the Miami Dolphins after signing a three year contract and rebuilding his passing mechanics.

A fresh start in Miami
Malik Willis is the new starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins. He joined the team on a three year, 67.5 million dollar contract. It was the only multiyear deal general manager Jon Eric Sullivan gave to a free agent this offseason.
The Dolphins are rebuilding. They even traded wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos for a first round pick. This move was made to bring in younger, cheaper players on rookie contracts who can grow alongside Willis.
Leading a young squad
Willis is leading the youngest offense in the NFL. During games, he shares the huddle with six rookies, including three receivers, a tight end, and a fullback.
To set the tone, Willis spoke to his teammates before a stadium practice. He told them, "We got to understand this is a business and we got to take what we do personally."
Coach Jeff Hafley has praised how Willis has handled the pressure. The team is focusing on player development this season rather than just wins and losses.
Rebuilding his game
Willis started his career with the Tennessee Titans, who drafted him in the third round in 2022. He struggled in his first year, completing 31 of 61 passes for 276 yards and three interceptions.
He realized he could not rely only on his athletic ability. He worked with coaches Sean McEvoy, Will Hewlett, and Tom Gormely to fix his throwing mechanics. They used video analysis and plyometric throwing to make his passing more consistent.
After a stint with the Green Bay Packers, Willis feels ready for this second chance. He said he has grown a lot after learning four different offenses over the last four years.
