Milwaukee erases early four run deficit

The Milwaukee Brewers are now two victories away from their first World Series title. On Saturday, Milwaukee beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-4 in Game 2. The win came after falling behind 4-0 in the first inning at American Family Field.

Falling behind has not stopped this team all month. Of the 10 games Milwaukee has played in October, they have trailed in nine. They have won eight of those nine games, bringing their postseason record to 9-1. First baseman Andrew Vaughn summed up the attitude of the clubhouse, noting that the players simply do not quit.

Big hits from Frelick and Pratt

A throwing error by rookie Cooper Pratt on the first play of the game helped Tampa Bay score four early runs. Milwaukee cut the deficit to two runs in the first inning and pushed it to 4-3 in the fourth.

In the sixth inning, outfielder Sal Frelick tied the game with a home run off Rays left hander Ian Seymour. Frelick, who had been dealing with structural damage in his right shoulder, had not homered since the All-Star break.

Pratt then made up for his early error in the seventh inning. Following a double by Brice Turang, Pratt drove in the go ahead run with an RBI single to right field in front of 43,245 fans.

Bullpen keeps Rays scoreless

Milwaukee's bullpen held Tampa Bay quiet for the final six innings of the game. Pitcher Aaron Ashby completed his 15th scoreless inning of this postseason. The Rays finished eight consecutive innings without scoring a run.

The series now moves to Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg as Milwaukee looks to finish the job on the road.
