Mohamed Belloumi Silences Pundits With Equaliser For Hull
Mohamed Belloumi came off the bench to score Hull City's equaliser against Everton, answering studio critics who laughed at him being rested.

Silencing the studio
Mohamed Belloumi answered his critics on Sunday after being the subject of lighthearted jokes before kickoff. Presenter Mark Chapman revealed that the 24 year old winger was left on the bench for Everton's visit because he was tired. Pundits Micah Richards and Daniel Sturridge shared knowing smiles with Roy Keane, and the studio laughed at the explanation.
Hull City head coach Sergej Jakirovic later explained that leaving the attacker out of the starting lineup was just a precaution. Belloumi had recently played for Algeria during the international break, where he scored against Burundi and Niger.
Immediate impact off the bench
The Algerian international entered the match in the 65th minute and made his mark quickly. Joe Gelhardt had put Hull in front after an error by Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall equalised, and Thierno Barry then put Everton 2-1 ahead with his second goal in two games.
Hull responded in the 74th minute. Elliot Stroud found space on the left flank and sent a cross inside. Belloumi feigned a shot, pushed the ball past Jarrad Branthwaite, and beat Jordan Pickford with a low strike with his left foot to earn a 2-2 draw.
The goal continued a fine start to life in the Premier League for Belloumi. He already has three goals and two assists in six matches and 424 minutes of play. That puts his rate at one goal contribution every 85 minutes, leading Hull in both categories. His strong start also includes two goals in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea and assists against Coventry City and Newcastle United.
