The Blowout in Columbia

No. 25 Missouri put on a show on Saturday, crushing eighth ranked Florida 45-17. The massive win snapped a nine game losing streak for the Tigers against ranked opponents. It also gave coach Eli Drinkwitz his very first regular season victory over a top ten team in 11 attempts.

The Tigers bounced back from a tough collapse against Mississippi State by completely shutting down Florida's powerful offense. The Gators entered the game averaging over 532 yards of offense but were held to just 325 yards. It was the second most lopsided SEC loss in Florida's history.

Missouri's Offensive Explosion

Missouri's offense was unstoppable, racking up 560 total yards. Quarterback Austin Simmons led the way, throwing for 340 yards and two touchdowns. He was highly efficient in the first half, completing 16 of 21 passes for 238 yards and both scores before halftime.

On the ground, Jamal Roberts was a force. He rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns. His big plays included a 76 yard run that set up a touchdown and a late 80 yard touchdown run that sealed the victory. Cayden Lee also contributed heavily with eight catches for 110 yards.

Shutting Down the Gators

Missouri's defense made it a priority to stop Florida's star running back Jadan Baugh. Baugh had 11 touchdowns in his first four games but was held to just 13 yards on 12 carries. After he gained 12 yards on his first carry, the Tigers limited him to just one yard on his next 11 attempts.

Gators quarterback Aaron Philo finished with 197 passing yards and a touchdown, but most of his production came while Florida was already trailing. Florida struggled to stop anything on defense, allowing Missouri to build a 20-10 lead by halftime before pulling away completely in the second half.
