Philadelphia Spoils New York Ring Ceremony With Big Win
The 76ers rallied to beat the Knicks 106-100 on Tuesday as LeBron James kicked off his 24th season.

Philadelphia Spoils The Banner Party
The Philadelphia 76ers started their season with a clear statement on Tuesday night. They rallied to beat the New York Knicks 106-100 on the same night New York celebrated its championship.
It was a major debut for LeBron James, who began his NBA record 24th season. James played a solid opening game for his new team, finishing with 14 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
The 76ers showed they are ready to compete directly with the champions right from day one.
Maxey And Brown Drive The Offense
Tyrese Maxey powered the offense for Philadelphia, scoring a team high 28 points in the victory.
Jaylen Brown also made his first appearance for Philadelphia since being acquired from Boston. He delivered a strong all around performance, finishing with 19 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.
The bench came through in key moments as well. Newcomers Anfernee Simons knocked down three 3 pointers, while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope hit two 3 pointers of his own.
These reserves found plenty of open looks throughout the night. New York spent too much energy paying attention to the bigger names on the court, leaving space for the secondary players to capitalize.
Champions Struggle From The Field
It was a special pregame atmosphere inside Madison Square Garden. The Knicks raised their NBA championship banner to the rafters and received their championship rings in front of the home crowd.
During the ceremony, NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson spoke to the fans. He shared his hopes for the upcoming year, saying, "The joy that this city had this summer, we would love to replicate that again."
New York Shooting Falls Short
Replicating that joy will take better execution on the court. New York struggled with its shot all night, hitting only 37% from the field and 33.3% on 3 pointers.
Brunson led the team with 21 points, but shot just 6 for 19 from the field. Karl-Anthony Towns added 19 points and 12 rebounds.
In the end, Philadelphia used its late rally to quiet the crowd and take a strong victory on the road.
