South Carolina Stuns Florida 38-19 Behind Sellers Five Touchdowns
LaNorris Sellers threw four touchdown passes as South Carolina upset No. 16 Florida 38-19 in Gainesville.

Sellers leads South Carolina to big SEC win
LaNorris Sellers delivered a dominant performance to help South Carolina defeat No. 16 Florida 38-19 on Saturday. The upset victory ended an eight-game SEC losing streak for the Gamecocks and marked their first win in Gainesville since 2014. Coach Shane Beamer saw his team close out the game cleanly after blowing leads in four of its previous five SEC games.
Sellers accounted for five total touchdowns in his best outing since November 2024. He completed 23 of 35 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns through the air. He connected with Nyck Harbor, Mazeo Bennett Jr., Donovan Murph, and Lex Cyrus for scores against Florida. Sellers also added a rushing touchdown in the third quarter, plunging in right after a physical 3-yard run where he threw off a defender.
Gators fall flat at home
Florida entered the matchup as double-digit favorites at home but struggled throughout the day. The Gators dropped to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in SEC play after suffering their second consecutive lopsided defeat following a 45-17 loss to Missouri.
Head coach Jon Sumrall heard boos from the home crowd for his clock management at the end of the first half, which ended with a missed long field goal. Florida could not establish the run, as Jadan Baugh finished with 59 yards on 15 carries and a garbage-time touchdown. Quarterback Aaron Philo turned the ball over twice, and the Gators secondary struggled all afternoon.
Big plays and defensive stops
A 45-minute lightning delay extended halftime, but South Carolina controlled the third quarter with two scoring drives. The Gamecocks built their lead even though they overthrew a wide-open receiver on a flea flicker, dropped three passes, and saw kicker Malik Orsan miss a field goal.
On defense, Dylan Stewart made an impact in his return from a one-game suspension for throwing a punch against Alabama. He sacked Philo in the first quarter to force a fumble and caused another turnover early in the fourth quarter. South Carolina is now 3-3 overall, while Florida faces a likely drop out of the AP Top 25.
