Williams and Santos lead Chicago past New England

The Chicago Bears never trailed on Thursday night, but they had to work hard to earn a 30-24 win over the New England Patriots at Soldier Field. On a night when Bears fans remembered Mike Ditka, quarterback Caleb Williams delivered another strong performance. Williams completed 22 of 33 passes for 308 yards and two touchdowns without throwing an interception.

With under five minutes remaining, Williams connected with Rome Odunze for 21 yards on third and 9 from the Bears 10 yard line. That big completion kept the drive alive. Cairo Santos later sealed the win with a 58 yard field goal, which was the longest of his career and the third longest in Soldier Field history.

Burden dominates as Patriots battle back

Luther Burden III was a major factor for the Bears offense. He caught all four of his targets for 130 yards and a touchdown. His 24 yard touchdown catch right before halftime helped Chicago build a 13 point lead. Burden now has 250 yards after the catch this season, which is second among wide receivers behind Drake London.

New England snapped a three game winning streak despite a strong effort from Drake Maye. The Patriots quarterback went 24 of 31 for 321 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, while also rushing for a score. New England cut into the lead right before halftime when Maye hit Rhamondre Stevenson for a 48 yard touchdown pass against a six man rush.

Turnovers continue to haunt New England

Despite moving the ball well, New England suffered from costly mistakes. Maye threw an interception in the end zone during the second quarter, marking his third end zone interception of the season. The Patriots now have 14 giveaways on the year and a minus 7 turnover differential. Coach Mike Vrabel expressed his frustration, saying, "We turn the ball over at a historic rate, and it's ridiculous. It's an embarrassment."

The Bears moved to 5-2 while the Patriots fell to 4-3. Chicago recorded two sacks against Maye, maintaining their streak of getting multiple sacks in every game this season. However, Chicago allowed several big plays through the air, including touchdown passes of 48 and 30 yards when sending six rushers.
