Chicago Bears Lock Up Running Back D'Andre Swift With New Three Year Extension

The Chicago Bears have secured their backfield just two days before their season opener. Running back D'Andre Swift has agreed to a three year, $33.75 million contract extension. The deal includes $27.5 million in guaranteed money.

Swift is now under contract with the Bears through the 2029 season. This is his second deal with Chicago. He originally signed a three year, $24 million contract in 2024, and his previous deal was set to run through 2026.

Dominating on the Ground

At 27 years old, Swift is coming off his best professional season. In 2025, he led Chicago's rushing attack with 1,087 yards and nine touchdowns. He also caught 34 passes for 299 yards and another score.

Swift has started 34 of 35 games over the last two seasons. He teamed up with Kyle Monangai to make the Bears the third best rushing team in the league, averaging 144.5 yards per game. Swift said last week that he felt good and had a complete, consistent training camp.

General manager Ryan Poles praised Swift's work ethic on Sept. 1. Poles said, "I love his approach to this offseason. He looks amazing." Coach Ben Johnson also noted that Swift looks primed for a big year.
