Georgia Bounces Back in Atlanta

The Georgia Bulldogs got back on track after a loss to Auburn two weeks ago, beating the Florida Gators 27-8 on Saturday. The rivalry matchup was played in Atlanta due to a $1.4 billion renovation project at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville.

Georgia took control early and dominated the line of scrimmage. The Bulldogs ran for 217 yards while holding Florida to just 54 yards on the ground. Georgia coach Kirby Smart said his team did what it had to do and avoided turnovers for the most part. The victory was Georgia's sixth consecutive win over Florida.

Mistakes Hurt the Gators

Florida struggled with turnovers throughout coach Jon Sumrall's first game against Georgia. Starting quarterback Aaron Philo returned after a shoulder injury, but his wild underhand pass was picked off by Ellis Robinson IV. That turnover led to a one yard touchdown run by Nate Frazier.

Demello Jones later intercepted a tipped pass, setting up a 28 yard field goal by Peyton Woodring. Bo Walker added a one yard touchdown run to make it 17-0. Right before halftime, Quintavius Johnson forced a fumble, and Chris Cole returned it 66 yards for a touchdown to extend the lead to 24-0.

Defense Seals the Win

Georgia kept Florida off the scoreboard through three quarters. Cornerback Braylon Conley intercepted Tramell Jones Jr. in the end zone during the third quarter to stop a Florida drive near the goal line.

Florida finally scored late in the fourth quarter on a two yard run by Jones and a two point pass to Dallas Wilson. That touchdown kept Florida's 481 game scoring streak active, but the game was already decided. Sumrall praised Georgia after the game, stating his team gave Georgia too much help with their mistakes.
