Giants Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds Out for the Season
Giants linebacker Tremaine Edmunds is out for the season with a chest injury, handing play calling duties to Micah McFadden.

Big blow to the Giants defense
The New York Giants suffered a major hit to their defense. Middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds will miss the rest of the season after tearing a chest muscle.
Edmunds got hurt late in Sunday's 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints. He wanted to play through the injury, but testing showed that was not possible. The 28 year old signed a three year contract worth 36 million dollars this offseason and quickly became a core leader for New York.
Through six games, Edmunds led the team with 50 tackles and shared the team lead with two sacks. The defense is also without outside linebacker Chauncey Golston for the rest of the year due to a neck injury.
Next man up in the middle
With Edmunds out, veteran Micah McFadden steps into the starting middle linebacker spot. McFadden will wear the green dot helmet to call plays and communicate with defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson.
McFadden brings experience to the role, having made 36 starts in his career. The Giants have maintained since summer that they view Edmunds, McFadden, and Arvell Reese as three starting caliber linebackers.
'I think I said early on we have three starters. So, when and if that happens, Micah is ready,' coach John Harbaugh said on Friday. 'He's a starter, and he'll play really well. He'll be excited for his opportunity.'
Injury updates for Sunday
The Giants, who hold a 3-2-1 record, do expect some help to arrive for Sunday's matchup against the Houston Texans. Cornerback Paulson Adebo is set to return from a knee injury after his return window opened this week.
Starting offensive tackles Andrew Thomas and Jermaine Eluemunor are listed as questionable with groin and calf injuries. However, Harbaugh noted Friday that both players should have a good chance to suit up.
