Gio Reyna Hurt After Scoring Ahead of USMNT Matches
Gio Reyna scored for Strasbourg but left with an apparent injury before the USMNT Nations League matches.

Injury Concern for Gio Reyna
Gio Reyna scored for Strasbourg on Friday, but his night ended early due to an apparent left thigh injury. The 23 year old midfielder found the net in the 67th minute of Strasbourg's Ligue 1 match against Toulouse. Just three minutes later, he signaled to the bench for a sub after feeling discomfort in his leg.
Reyna walked straight down the tunnel after coming off. The injury puts his availability for the upcoming national team fixtures in doubt.
USMNT Roster Impact
Reyna had just been named to Mauricio Pochettino's squad for the Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals. The United States team, ranked 16th, is scheduled to play 84th ranked Haiti in a two legged series. The first game takes place on Nov. 14 in Miami, followed by the second leg on Nov. 17 in Cincinnati.
The winner advances to the Nations League semifinals set for March 22 to March 30 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Reyna was expected to play a key role after starting four consecutive wins for the national team during September and October, where he recorded two assists.
French League Action and McKenzie Scores
Reyna was not the only American player on the score sheet during Friday's match. Defender Mark McKenzie scored Toulouse's second goal in their 3-1 victory over Strasbourg. McKenzie had just been added to the USMNT roster earlier in the day as a replacement for injured defender George Campbell.
With the win, Toulouse moved into 10th place in Ligue 1 after securing their second win in four games. Meanwhile, Strasbourg continues to struggle. The club has now dropped five of its last six matches, leaving them 13th in the 18 team table.
History of Fitness Battles
Injury setbacks have plagued Reyna in recent years. Previous issues hindered his momentum while playing in Germany for Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach. They also restricted his playing time with the national team.
He appeared to be turning the corner after a promising World Cup and a strong start to his current club campaign. His recent physical form allowed him to contribute significantly for both Strasbourg and the national team. Now, fans must wait for further updates on his thigh issue.
