Jets Down Another Receiver as Adonai Mitchell Ruled Out Against Lions
New York Jets wide receiver Adonai Mitchell is out for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions due to a finger injury.

Jets Lose Top Target
The New York Jets face another major setback in their heavily depleted receiving corps. Wide receiver Adonai Mitchell is officially inactive for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. Mitchell, who was the team's most targeted player last week, will miss the game due to a finger injury.
This leaves the Jets with Garrett Wilson and Isaiah Williams as their top two active wide receivers for the game. The team must now find a way to move the ball through the air against a tough Detroit defense.
A Practice Accident
The injury occurred during Thursday's practice session. Mitchell caught his finger in a teammate's jersey. The incident limited his participation in Friday's practice, and the team listed him as questionable on the final injury report.
Head coach Aaron Glenn stated that Mitchell did not suffer a fracture. Even so, the wideout was spotted on Friday wearing a heavy wrap on his right hand, with both his index and middle fingers placed in splints.
Mitchell has been the primary deep threat for the offense. He currently leads the team with a team high 15 targets, which he has turned into nine catches for 123 yards.
Unfamiliar Backups Called Up
Because of the injuries, the Jets are turning to three backups who were added to the active roster just this week. Remarkably, none of these players were on the team's roster when the regular season started.
The group is led by veteran receiver Sterling Shepard, who signed with the practice squad only two weeks ago. The other two additions are Malik McClain, an undrafted rookie, and Jamaal Pritchett, a first year player. Both McClain and Pritchett are set to make their NFL debuts on Sunday.
The passing game faces additional challenges beyond the wide receiver position. Starting tight end Mason Taylor is also ruled out for the game because of a thumb injury.
