Justin Herbert Fires Back at Questions Over Chargers Leadership After 0-2 Start

Herbert Shuts Down Critics

The Los Angeles Chargers are off to a rough 0-2 start, and quarterback Justin Herbert is feeling the heat. When reporters asked him about the team's vocal leadership on Wednesday, the usually quiet quarterback did not hold back. He cut off a reporter mid-question to defend his locker room.

"I don't think there's a lack of vocal leadership at all. So, I'm going to stop you right there and say that it's very present," Herbert said. He added that nobody on the team is panicking. He explained that the team is focused on moving to the next play, correcting their mistakes, and pushing forward.

A Rough Start for the Offense

The Chargers' winless start is a major surprise. They have lost to the Las Vegas Raiders and the Arizona Cardinals, two teams that held the first and third picks in the draft last season.

The Chargers offense was expected to thrive under new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. Instead, the unit has struggled.

During a 26-14 loss to the Raiders on Sunday, Herbert showed visible frustration. After a late snap hit wide receiver Tre' Harris in the legs on a fourth down, Herbert slammed his fists and yelled at his teammates as he walked off the field. Herbert later brushed off the outburst, saying he is focused on the next play.

Harbaugh Backs His Quarterback

Head coach Jim Harbaugh defended his quarterback, calling the offensive struggles growing pains. Harbaugh stated that he felt the team was letting Herbert down.

Harbaugh pointed to Herbert's two interceptions against the Raiders, both caught by cornerback Hezekiah Masses. Harbaugh noted that one pass was bobbled by tight end David Njoku, while the other happened because wide receiver Derius Davis ran the wrong route.

"I wouldn't change anything about Justin," Harbaugh said.

Preparing for Buffalo

The Chargers will look to turn things around this Sunday. They are traveling to Buffalo to face the Bills.

Despite the early setbacks, Herbert remains confident. He insisted that the team will not panic and will focus on doing their jobs.
