Milwaukee Ace Jacob Misiorowski Dominates with Historic Fastball
Brewers starter Jacob Misiorowski is dominating Major League Baseball with historic velocity and a Cy Young caliber season.

Unmatched Velocity on the Mound
Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jacob Misiorowski is putting together an incredible season. The 24 year old is a candidate for the National League Cy Young Award after dominating hitters all year. Misiorowski has thrown 1,053 fastballs over 100 mph this season. That is 582 more than any other pitcher in baseball.
He leads the major leagues with a 1.89 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, and 243 strikeouts. His teammates are amazed by his consistency. Infielder David Hamilton noted that a starter throwing that hard for that long is incredible.
Misiorowski joins Jordan Hicks, Aroldis Chapman, and Mason Miller as the only pitchers since 2008 to throw 500 or more pitches at 100 plus mph in a single season. However, Misiorowski has done this as a starting pitcher, whereas the others did it in short relief roles.
Historic Speed and Dominant Starts
One pitch stands out from his season. On June 26, Misiorowski threw a 105.5 mph fastball to Chicago Cubs hitter Pete Crow Armstrong. It is the fastest pitch thrown in the major leagues this year, and the fastest ever recorded by a starting pitcher. Catcher William Contreras described the pitch as being like a flash.
Another standout moment was a complete game against the Philadelphia Phillies on June 12. Misiorowski threw just 94 pitches, striking out 15 batters and allowing only one hit in a 6-0 victory.
Misiorowski has also improved his control. His walk rate dropped from 11.4% to 6.6% this season. Outfielder Christian Yelich said that commanding the zone better was his final hurdle to becoming this kind of pitcher.
