Neville Says Premier League Integrity Damaged By Man City Financial Verdict
Former defender Gary Neville says the Premier League is being dragged through the mud following Manchester City's guilty verdict over financial breaches.

Integrity Under Fire
An independent commission has found Manchester City guilty on all charges of breaching Premier League financial rules. The decision has sparked strong reactions from former players, with former Manchester United defender Gary Neville claiming the league's reputation has been badly damaged.
Speaking on the Stick To Football podcast, Neville described the details of the case as chilling. He said that people always think the Premier League has enormous integrity and sets the standard, while other leagues suffer from corruption and scandals. Now, he feels those problems have arrived in English football.
Neville said the league is currently being dragged through the mud. His comments reflect growing concerns over how the verdict impacts the image of the entire competition.
Mass Financial Breaches Revealed
The independent commission concluded that Manchester City clearly intended to circumvent financial regulations over a period of nine seasons. The club achieved this primarily by disguising funding from their owners as sponsorship revenue.
According to the findings, Manchester City inflated their revenue and hid costs. The total amount involved in these actions was more than £900 million, which is equivalent to 1.1 billion dollars.
By using these methods over the nine season period, the club managed to avoid breaching the spending limits set by both the Premier League and UEFA. Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has reacted to the scale of the findings by calling on the club's owner, Sheikh Mansour, to sell the team.
Club Fights Back Against Decision
Manchester City have already indicated that they intend to appeal the commission's decision. The club released a statement claiming the ruling contains clear material errors of law, principle, and fact, making the verdict unsafe.
The club also stated that a comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence exists to support all of their positions. They remain firm in their stance that they did not violate the rules.
Neville was highly critical of the club's response. He described their claim of having irrefutable evidence as bizarre, adding that it was a bit like Donald Trump.
