Moore back on the field

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore was back on the practice field on Monday. The senior took part in practice two weeks after sustaining a concussion in a game against USC.

Coach Dan Lanning confirmed that Moore was wearing a helmet and shoulder pads and was throwing the football. Lanning said it was great to see the quarterback back out there with his teammates and able to get a little work in.

Moore was injured on September 26 after scrambling up the field and sliding. He was hit late by USC linebacker Desman Stephens II. After being examined on the field, Moore was taken by ambulance to Los Angeles General Medical Center. Fortunately, his MRI and CT scans came back clean with no additional injuries.

Status for UCLA game is uncertain

The No. 13 Ducks are preparing to face No. 21 UCLA this Saturday, but it is not clear if Moore will play. Lanning did not share details about what Moore did during the closed practice or whether he will be available.

The coach explained that the team will do what is best for Moore's long term health. He previously mentioned on "The Pat McAfee Show" that they have to "protect a player from himself." More information will come when the Big Ten mandatory injury report is released on Wednesday.

Before his injury, Moore was having a strong year as a preseason Heisman Trophy contender. In four games, he has thrown for 926 yards and nine touchdowns. He was widely projected to be a top pick in the 2026 NFL draft before returning to Oregon for his senior year.

Raiola ready to step in

If Moore cannot play on Saturday, backup quarterback Dylan Raiola will get his first official start. The former Nebraska quarterback came on against USC and threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns to lead Oregon to a win.

Lanning said Raiola needs to keep preparing like he is the starter every day. The coach noted that they do not need anything special from Raiola, just for him to keep doing what he has been doing.
