Senators Goalie Linus Ullmark Leaves Bruins Game Early After Collision
Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark exited Monday's game against Boston after a collision, but the move was described as precautionary.

Ullmark exits early in Boston
Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark had to leave Monday night's game against the Boston Bruins. The Swedish netminder exited the game after the second period when he tweaked something during a collision.
Backup goaltender Samuel Ersson came on to replace Ullmark for the start of the third period. Ullmark had put on a stellar performance before his exit, stopping all 15 shots that came his way. Ottawa held a comfortable 4-0 lead when the starting goaltender departed.
Precautionary move after second period crash
The injury happened late in the second period with 4:24 left on the clock. Boston forward JJ Peterka was shoved by Ottawa's William Eklund, causing Peterka to collide with Ullmark. The Swedish goaltender, who is 33 years old, was slow to get up after the crash.
Senators coach Travis Green explained that this specific collision was what caused Ullmark to feel like something was not right. However, the team does not seem overly concerned about a long term injury.
Green described the decision to pull Ullmark as precautionary. "We just felt it was best that we bring him out," the coach said after the game. Ullmark was even able to return to the bench early in the third period to watch the rest of the game.
Senators secure the win
Despite losing their starting goaltender, the Senators kept their composure. Samuel Ersson took over in net and allowed only one goal during the final frame.
Ottawa held on to beat the Bruins 4-1. The victory keeps the Senators undefeated, improving their record to 2-0 for the young season. Fans will now be watching closely to see how quickly Ullmark can return to action.
