Steelers Coach Regrets Heated Exchange With Aaron Rodgers
Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike McCarthy expressed regret over using profanity toward quarterback Aaron Rodgers during a 27-24 loss to the Browns.

Tempers Flare on the Sideline
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy has expressed regret for using profanity toward quarterback Aaron Rodgers during Thursday night's 27-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns.
The incident occurred midway through the first quarter. A hot mic caught a frustrated Rodgers gesturing and shouting toward the sideline, asking for the play call with an expletive. Cameras then showed McCarthy, who appeared upset and muttered a profanity in response.
Speaking after the game, McCarthy admitted that communication is sometimes not the best choice of words when everyone is competing on the field. He added that he wished he had not used those words. McCarthy described the team's opening drive as hectic, noting that he was talking faster than normal. Rodgers also pointed out that the loud crowd noise made it difficult to hear the play calls.
A Night of Offensive Struggles
Although the Steelers opened the game with a long touchdown drive, their offense struggled in the second and third quarters. Tight end Pat Freiermuth called the team's inability to keep the momentum going deflating.
Rodgers threw an interception on the second drive, which the Browns quickly turned into a touchdown. Cleveland scored 21 straight points while Pittsburgh's next six drives gained only 101 yards, resulting in four punts, a missed field goal, and a made field goal.
Despite the slump, Rodgers led a fourth quarter comeback. He threw two touchdowns and ran in a quarterback sneak for a two point conversion to tie the game late. However, the Browns answered with a drive of their own, kicking a 56 yard field goal to win.
Rodgers finished the game completing 22 of 40 passes for 299 yards. He was sacked five times and hit 10 times, struggling particularly against man defense.
