The three goals conceded on Friday night put Xabi Alonso into an unwanted group of Premier League managers. He is now one of only six bosses to concede two or more goals in each of their first five matches in the league.

He joins Mick McCarthy, Sammy Lee, Terry Connor, Slavisa Jokanovic, and Scott Parker in this category. To make things worse for Chelsea, Anthony's opening goal was the sixth goal they have conceded from a set-piece this season. That statistic is another league high for the club.

Alonso Demands More Consistency

After the match, Alonso pointed to a drop in focus during the second half of the game. He noted that his players lost the competitive mentality needed to stay in the match.

"The small details can be decisive," Alonso said after the defeat. He added that you do not want to give an advantage in these kinds of games, where Brentford can get a lot from very little.

Alonso also explained that his team has not been able to keep their level up for the full 95 minutes of matches during the start of the campaign. He said that this is something they must do better.

Despite the poor start, Alonso remains aware of the challenge ahead. He stated that they knew it was a process, noting that five games into a competitive Premier League, they knew each game was going to be hard.
