A New Chapter Begins for Lakers After LeBron James Exit
Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves led the Lakers to a 127-105 win over the Warriors as a new chapter begins without LeBron James.

Life after LeBron in Los Angeles
LeBron James is now playing in Philadelphia after signing a two year 8 million dollar deal with the Sixers. His exit left the Los Angeles Lakers in a period of change as they opened their season against the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers dominated on the court, earning a 127-105 victory over their familiar rivals.
Austin Reaves is now the longest tenured player on the roster in his sixth season. He signed a four year 180 million dollar contract to stay in Los Angeles. Reaves recalled his final hug with James last May after their playoff elimination. He noted that James gave him confidence every day, treating him the same from his start as a two way player to the present. Bronny James is entering his third season, while Luka Doncic has been with the team for 18 months.
Doncic steps up for Laker Nation
Luka Doncic embraced a leadership role on opening night. Before the game, he took out a full page ad in the LA Times. He offered free parking in a nearby lot and free bike rides to the game. He even addressed the home crowd with a microphone before tipoff, surprising Reaves.
On the court, Doncic scored 28 points and recorded seven assists. He brought the crowd to its feet with a half court shot to beat the halftime buzzer. New center Walker Kessler had a historic night, making all 12 of his field goals and scoring 10 dunks. His perfect 12 shots were the most by a Laker without a miss since Wilt Chamberlain in 1969, while his 10 dunks were the most since Shaquille O'Neal had 11 in 2003.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr said before the game that it was weird seeing James in a Sixers jersey. The Warriors previously faced James in four straight Finals during his time with Cleveland.
