African Stars Shine in NFL Week 3 as Izien Leads Lions

Izien Leads the Way for Lions

Detroit Lions safety Christian Izien had a massive game in Week 3. Izien, who proudly represents Nigeria, helped his team secure a 31-24 win over the New York Jets. He recorded 11 tackles, with nine of them being solo tackles, and added three tackles for loss.

Osa Odighizuwa also contributed a pass defended to help his team win 36-30 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Offensive Highlights in Week 3

There were some strong performances on the offensive side of the ball as well. Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who represents Sierra Leone, caught 10 passes for 128 yards and scored two touchdowns. However, the Seahawks fell to the Washington Commanders in a close 33-31 game, despite Uchenna Nwosu defending a pass.

For the Panthers, John Metchie III scored a touchdown in their loss to the Browns. Princely Umanmielen also added a sack for Carolina in that game. In another matchup, Davison Igbinosun defended a pass for the Buffalo Bills in their 24-16 win over the LA Chargers, while Justin Eboigbe forced a fumble for the Chargers.
