A Major Blow to the Crimson Tide Front

Alabama will be missing a key piece of its offense this weekend. Sophomore right guard Michael Carroll has been ruled out for the upcoming game against Kentucky. The school announced the update on its official injury report, though it did not specify what injury is keeping him sidelined.

Carroll is a massive presence on the line at 6-foot-6 and 324 pounds. He is also the only returning starter from last season's offensive line, making his absence a significant challenge for the Crimson Tide.

Reshuffling the Offensive Line

Last season, Carroll earned freshman All-American honors. He started six games at right tackle in 2025 before moving inside to guard during the offseason. In last weekend's 48-10 season-opening victory against East Carolina, he played 74 snaps and did not allow a single sack.

To cover for his absence, Alabama is expected to make some adjustments. Mal Waldrep Jr., who was listed as a co-starter at left guard on the depth chart, is expected to shift over to right guard. Meanwhile, William Sanders is set to step in and start at left guard.

More Names on the Injury List

Carroll is not the only player Alabama will be missing on Saturday. The Crimson Tide will also be without running back AK Dear and wide receiver Noah Rogers.

The defense is dealing with several absences as well. Defensive backs Jorden Edmonds, Nick Sherman, and Zyan Gibson are all ruled out. Linebacker Cayden Jones and defensive lineman Jeremiah Beaman will also miss the game.
