Chicago Offense Dominates as Bears Put Up 59 in Season Opener
The Chicago Bears started their season with a historic 59-37 win over the Carolina Panthers, combining for 96 points in a wild offensive display.

A Historic Start for Chicago
The Chicago Bears opened their 107th season with a massive statement. They beat the Carolina Panthers 59-37 in a game that saw both teams combine for 96 points. That is the most points ever scored in an NFL season opener.
The Bears racked up 552 yards of offense, which is their third-most in a game since 1966. Running back D'Andre Swift led the ground game with 124 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries, while Kyle Monangai added 100 yards and a score. In total, the Bears rushed for 291 yards and six touchdowns.
Quarterback Caleb Williams also shined. He completed 21 of 29 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns, and he added two rushing touchdowns. It was his first career game with multiple rushing scores.
Defensive Woes in Carolina
Despite spending big in the offseason on defenders like Jaelan Phillips and Devin Lloyd, the Panthers struggled to stop anything. Phillips, who signed a four-year, 120 million dollar deal, called the 59 points embarrassing.
Panthers coach Dave Canales said he needs to look at the film to find solutions. Carolina did find some success on offense, with quarterback Bryce Young throwing for 361 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception.
Chicago had some mistakes of its own, including 12 penalties and a sluggish start with an early fumble. Cornerback Jaylon Johnson noted that the defense cannot rely on the offense scoring nearly 60 points every week.
