Bouncing back in Philadelphia

The Dallas Cowboys stopped their two game slide on Monday night with a 38-21 road win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Dallas avoided a three game losing streak and stayed in the hunt with the 4-2-1 New York Giants in the NFC East.

Dak Prescott led the way through the air with three touchdown passes. Two went to CeeDee Lamb and one went to George Pickens, which marked Prescott's sixth career game with three passing touchdowns against Philadelphia.

Dominance on the ground and steady defense

The Cowboys produced more than 200 passing yards and 200 rushing yards against the Eagles for the first time since 1983. Running back Javonte Williams led the attack on the ground, picking up a career high 155 rushing yards on 25 carries. He capped the scoring with a two yard touchdown run with 2:21 left on the clock.

Dallas also found enough stops on defense against Tanner McKee. While the unit allowed touchdowns on the opening drives of both halves, DeMarvion Overshown came away with an interception. Quinnen Williams and Donovan Ezeiruaku also recorded one sack each.

Quieting the outside noise

The victory brought relief for head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who faced heavy pressure after recent offensive struggles. Dallas had scored just 29 combined points in its previous two outings, during which Prescott threw four interceptions.

Prescott noted that the team wanted to rally behind their coach. He said players noticed a hungry version of Schottenheimer during the week, adding that the locker room had his back. Schottenheimer stayed calm after the win, noting that the performance had nothing to do with desperation and that his players simply played well.

What it means for the next game

The Cowboys return home to AT&T Stadium to face the 2-5 Arizona Cardinals. Dallas will try to win two straight games for the first time since Weeks 11 through 13 of last season.

Arizona Cardinals at Dallas Cowboys (NFL, Sun, 01 Nov): Dallas Cowboys win 71%, Arizona Cardinals win 29%; projected score Dallas Cowboys 30, Arizona Cardinals 25. Our safest pick: Cowboys to win.
