A Big Night in St. Petersburg

Jackson Chourio is only 22 years old, but he is already dominating on baseball's biggest stage. The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 in Game 3 of the World Series in St. Petersburg, Florida. That victory puts Milwaukee up 3-0 and just one win away from the first championship in the franchise's 57 year history.

Chourio led the way with four hits. That was a quarter of Milwaukee's 16 total hits in the game. He became the first 22 year old in 80 years to collect four hits in a World Series game. He now has eight hits through the first three games of this series.

Building a Postseason Reputation

Game 3 was Chourio's 23rd career postseason game. Brewers hitting coach Daniel Vogelbach noted that Chourio is a kid who could be playing college baseball right now. Instead, he has spent three years performing in pressure packed environments.

In Game 3, Milwaukee broke the game open with eight two out runs in the fifth inning. Chourio started that rally with a single up the middle and capped it with a double into right center field. Brewers captain Christian Yelich said Chourio has a slow heartbeat and likes the moment.

His numbers back that up. Between 2024 and 2026, Chourio posted a .799 OPS in the regular season. In the playoffs, his OPS rises to .882. Backup catcher Gary Sánchez noted that Chourio seems to like these postseason moments even more than the regular season.

Calmness Under Pressure

Chourio credits his mental approach for his success. He explained that he focuses on remaining calm and thinking about positive results. He said he knows people expect a lot from him, but he expects a lot from himself too.

That calm mindset draws inspiration from basketball history. His father was a big Lakers fan, giving Chourio the middle name Bryan after Kobe Bryant. Chourio read parts of Bryant's book, The Mamba Mentality, to help build his focus on the field.
