A dream start for Samba

The path to the first team

Samba is one of only three youth players kept in the first team squad for the 2026-27 season, alongside McAidoo and Kaden Braithwaite. City's midfield is crowded with players like Enzo Fernandez, Elliot Anderson, and Mateo Kovacic. However, the squad is short on strikers.

With Omar Marmoush out on loan at Tottenham, Erling Haaland has no natural backup. Antoine Semenyo is an option but prefers playing on the wing. Maresca needs to manage Haaland's minutes after a long summer at the World Cup. This could give Samba plenty of chances to play up front this season.
