Milwaukee Dominates National League Lists

The Milwaukee Brewers are heavily represented in this year's postseason award voting. Four members of the World Series championship team made the top three across various National League categories. The finalists were chosen by the Baseball Writers' Association of America at the end of the regular season and announced Monday night on MLB Network.

Pitcher Jacob Misiorowski is a heavy favorite for the National League Cy Young Award. Second baseman Brice Turang earned a nomination for National League Most Valuable Player after winning a Gold Glove. Closer Trevor Megill is up for National League Relief Pitcher of the Year, a new award category this season. Manager Pat Murphy could become the first manager to win the award three years in a row.

MVP Contenders Across Both Leagues

The National League MVP race features Turang alongside Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani and Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong. Crow-Armstrong is expected to win after batting .280 with 45 home runs and 41 stolen bases. His performance made him the seventh member of the 40 40 club. Ohtani is also in the running as a four time MVP winner.

In the American League MVP race, Houston slugger Yordan Alvarez is the favorite. Third baseman Junior Caminero of the Tampa Bay Rays and shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals are the other two finalists.

Cy Young and Rookie Finalists

Misiorowski faces competition for the National League Cy Young Award from two left handers. Chris Sale of the Atlanta Braves and Cristopher Sanchez of the Philadelphia Phillies are also in the final three. In the American League, the Cy Young finalists are Toronto right hander Dylan Cease, Cleveland rookie Parker Messick, and New York Yankees ace Cam Schlittler.

Messick is also a candidate for American League Rookie of the Year. He shares that nomination list with Detroit infielder Kevin McGonigle and Boston left hander Payton Tolle. In the National League, the rookie candidates are New York Mets right fielder Carson Benge, Cincinnati Reds infielder Sal Stewart, and St. Louis Cardinals second baseman JJ Wetherholt.

Relief Pitchers and Managerial Race

Relief Pitcher of the Year is a new honor in both leagues this season. In the American League, Tampa Bay closer Bryan Baker, Cleveland closer Cade Smith, and Toronto closer Louis Varland are up for the award. Megill represents Milwaukee in the National League group alongside Philadelphia closer Jhoan Duran and San Diego closer Mason Miller.

The Manager of the Year award presents strong competition. Murphy is challenged in the National League by Philadelphia skipper Don Mattingly and Atlanta manager Walt Weiss. In the American League, the three manager finalists are Kevin Cash of the Rays, Chad Tracy of the Red Sox, and Will Venable of the White Sox. All award winners will be revealed next week.
