Packers keep Jacobs on the roster

The Green Bay Packers plan to stick with running back Josh Jacobs despite new allegations of physical and verbal abuse.

The team learned about allegations from three women from several years ago after police records were released last week. Those claims surfaced following Jacobs' arrest on May 23 after an incident with a woman at his home.

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur spoke about the situation on Monday. He said the team will allow the NFL process to play out, but he expects Jacobs to remain with the team moving forward.

Legal background and league review

In September, Jacobs pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges related to the May incident. He was convicted of battery and fined $1,000, while also agreeing to a deferred judgment deal for damage to property.

Attorneys for Jacobs released a statement calling the older claims unsupported and stale.

Jacobs returned to the field in Week 7 after spending six games on the commissioner exempt list. The league's investigation remains open, though those six games would count toward any potential suspension.

Recent performance and celebration

LaFleur also addressed a touchdown celebration from Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers, where Jacobs placed his hands behind his back. Jacobs said the gesture was an ode to the gospel song Break Every Chain and not related to his legal situation. LaFleur mentioned he discussed the celebration with Jacobs privately and plans to move forward.

On the field, Green Bay still holds the worst rushing offense in the league. Over his two games back, Jacobs has recorded 32 carries for 75 yards and one rushing touchdown. He has also caught 11 passes for 68 yards and two receiving touchdowns.
