Jaguars Lose DaVon Hamilton to Quad Injury After Victory Over Colts
Jacksonville Jaguars nose tackle DaVon Hamilton is expected to miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn quad muscle against the Colts.

Heavy loss for the Jacksonville defense
The Jacksonville Jaguars earned a 42-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts at EverBank Stadium, but the win came with bad news. Nose tackle DaVon Hamilton suffered a torn quadriceps muscle during the second quarter of the game.
Hamilton was hurt during play and remained down on the field. Teammates surrounded him as medical staff attended to him. He was taken to the locker room on a cart and is scheduled for further tests. He is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
Key piece of the top ranked run defense
The loss of Hamilton leaves a gap in the center of the defensive unit. Head coach Liam Coen and multiple players highlighted Hamilton as the main reason behind the team top ranked run defense this year.
Through seven games, the nose tackle registered 16 tackles, half a sack, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. His play up front helped steady the defense each week.
This injury comes during the final season of a three year contract extension worth $34.5 million, which Hamilton signed in April 2023.
Coach Liam Coen reacts to the injury
Speaking after Sunday's game, coach Liam Coen spoke about the respect Hamilton commands inside the locker room. Coen praised his character and leadership during practice and individual drills throughout the week.
Coen shared what happened on the field while Hamilton was lying down. Coen said of Hamilton, "There's not many better humans, better competitors, team guys." The head coach added that Hamilton was reassuring him on the field with a smile on his face, trusting in God, himself, and life.
