Jets keep star wideout off trade market

Trade deadline rumors are filling up across the league, but New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson is staying put. One well placed source said there is no way the Jets trade the star player before the Nov. 10 deadline.

Fans might remember how New York handled things last season. The team traded cornerback Sauce Gardner and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams on deadline day for draft picks. However, the situation surrounding Wilson is completely different.

Why New York is holding onto Wilson

The 26 year old receiver is seen as one of the best players at his position. New York signed him 15 months ago to a four year extension worth $130 million that runs through 2030. Team ownership loves Wilson and has no desire to move him.

New York also has plenty of future draft picks already. They hold the Indianapolis Colts 2027 first round pick and the higher of the Dallas or Green Bay 2027 first round pick from previous trades. The front office wants to keep building the offense around Wilson rather than collecting more picks.

Wilson himself wants to remain in New York. He recently said, "Yeah, I want to be here, man. I want to win games and that's the one thing we've been missing on here." He added that he loves it in New York and remains hopeful despite recent losses.

Other receivers like Jacksonville's Brian Thomas Jr., Indianapolis' Josh Downs, Minnesota's Jauan Jennings, Cleveland's Jerry Jeudy, and Tennessee's Calvin Ridley might be available before Nov. 10, but Wilson is not.
